Martin Fischer, Main Tournament Director

Martin Fischer is a lawyer who runs his own law firm in Norderstedt, a small city near Hamburg. He was born in 1962, is married and has a grown-up daughter. He has been the main tournament director on the server playchess.com since 2001. He plays chess for the club SKJE, where he learned chess almost 40 years ago in the Hamburg Landesliga. Michael Kopylov, Tournament Director, Final Arbiter

Michael Kopylov is an International Master, born 1975 in Ukraine and is now living in Germany. He is a regular member of the Playchess staff team, and his main task to check all tournaments for cheating. In addition he is the one to ask for support when your native language is Russian. He is married and father of a 7-year-old son. In Germany he is playing on the top board for SK Norderstedt in Germany Second Bundesliga.

 

Matthias Wüllenweber, Final Arbiter

Matthias Wüllenweber (48) is CEO and co-founder of ChessBase. He is one of the programmers of the Playchess software. Beside chess he is interested in music and has developed the program "Ludwig", which is able to compose music and is a valuable tool when you are learning to play a musical instrument.

 

Gaby Assmann, Tournament Director

Gaby Assmann was born in 1958 and is the owner of her own shop in a small city near Bremen. She has been a regular member of the Playchess team since 2001. Since then she has run more than 1000 tournaments on the server. Beside chess her passion is her dogs. Many weekends she supports her greyhounds when they are fighting for fame.

 

Jörg Wegerle, Tournament Director

Jörg Wegerle was born in 1985. He is studying computer science in Worms, specialising in telecommunications. As a chess player he is active for SK Solingen in the Second Bundesliga in Germany as well as for the Austrian Club SK Absam (Second Bundesliga again). In addition he supports his former club SK Viernheim as a Trainer. On the server he has been running tournaments since 2005.
