Cheating Control
What do we mean we are talking about cheating? It is quite simple. We mean using software to help you find a move in a game you are currently playing. This is not allowed.
This is a chess tournament between humans. We do not intend to support any form of "advanced chess" – your computer may be used only to transmit moves, not to find them. However, as experience shows, whenever something is on stake we will face some players who are trying to gain an unfair advantage. Therefore it is – unfortunately – necessary to have an extensive cheating control, especially in the final.
How does the cheating control work
We have created and updated software which will look through the games and pick up the points where the play looks like a machine move. We have learned that there are differences between playing chess like a human and like an engine, especially in blitz chess. Our software identifies the points where in a game a players behaves like a chess engine, evealuates them and made a report on the game.
You do not need to worry that you will be accusated for cheating just for finding a good or strong move, or winning against a higher rated player. We (and our software) are aware of the fact that even humans act like an engine sometimes – just not all the time.
All games will be checked
All games which will be played in the event will be checked. The control will be done live and in greater detail after the tournaments. The Tournament Director – in the Final the majority of Tournament Directors – will decide about action that needs to be taken immediately. Their decision is final.
What happens if we learn about a case of cheating
If any player in the preliminaries has cheated, his account on the server will be closed for at least four months and a detailed report will be sent to FIDE, which may decide to take more serious action.
If we learn that a player has cheated, or is cheating, in the Final we will expel him/her from the tournament and close the account immediately, so the player will not able finish the final. In addition we will send a detailed report to FIDE, which may decide on further action.
